Location: Hart

Hearing and Vision Technician 9 month Position (Healthcare)

Under general supervision, conducts hearing and vision screenings for children according to established standards and schedules. Coordinates testing with school personnel. Identifies children with hearing or vision problems and initiates appropriate referral and follow up for those not passing. Maintains knowledge of and compliance with State program requirements and standards. This position will have the summer months off annually.
Coordinates and plans effective and timely schedules of hearing and vision testing with multiple pre-schools, schools, or defined populations. Conducts vision and/or hearing screening of pre-school or school-aged children. Interprets screening results and identifies children with normal or serviceable hearing and vision, or those with potential hearing or vision problems. Accurately records test results, and reports to school staff and parents.

Enters data into electronic health records and State database according to established procedures. Makes recommendations and referrals for further examinations for children with hearing or vision problems based on State guidelines. Sends appropriate notification of results and follow-up letters to providers and/or parents according to established procedures. Assists in testing and/or follow up of children needing further evaluation. Follows up with school staff and parents regarding any failed tests and updates records accordingly.

Disseminates education and informational resources as needed. Ensures screening equipment is in working order and properly calibrated. Maintains current knowledge of State program policies and protocols and ensures effective compliance and adherence to quality standards and program requirements. Attends required continuing education workshops, and agency meetings and trainings. Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary in response to emergencies, workloads or staffing shortages.

Works flexible hours as needed. May complete special projects such as data compiling and entry, filing, mailing, copying, and so forth as requested. Participates in Emergency Preparedness Incident Command System (ICS) as assigned. Maintains up-to-date vaccines including flu (influenza,) in accordance with CDC guidelines:
