Position: Wellness and Health Promotion Peer Health Advocate (OCSE)
Location: Lowell

Responsibilities

Peer Health Advocates (PHAs) are student health ambassadors who plan and implement health promotion and education for their peers and the general university community.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Interface with University Housing and Residential Education, supporting Resident Advisors (RAs) with health promotion & education programming.
  • Help create and curate messaging around healthier living, harm reduction, mental health awareness, and sex education (among other topics).
  • Conduct and promote events throughout the university, which will include workshops and training, tabling and flyering across the university. Some of the events may be in the evening and weekends.
  • Provide content for and help promote our social media.
  • Train as a Peer Health Advocate (PHA). There is a mandatory PHA training retreat during the Spring 2027 semester.
  • Commit to at least 2 hours/week of administrative office duties and perform other assignments as needed that support Student Health Services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • You should have an interest in health and well-being.
  • We seek candidates with a strong work ethic, the ability to take initiative, work independently, communicate clearly and meet deadlines.
  • You must be organized and able to interact with students, staff, and faculty of diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with Google docs and social media platforms.
  • Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy. Work on site at Student Health Services, which is a requirement of this position, requires use of a surgical grade mask at all times.
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer students with experience in health promotion, mental health Initiations, and previous experience in coordinating and presenting workshops.

Work Mode

Hybrid/Split
-This position requires a regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus and also works some of the time remotely. This will be coordinated with the supervisor.#LI-DNI

This position requires both work on site at Student Health Services or at other locations on the university campus and independent work that can be done remotely. The final schedule will be determined with the supervisor and could be variable week by week, depending on the programs and services being offered.

Hourly Rate: $21/hr
