Position: Nutritionist RD - Hourly
Location: Caledonia

Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) founded in 1978, is committed to providing comprehensive health and related services to diverse communities, with a focus on serving Latinos in Washington State. We are recruiting for a Full‑time [Float] Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in our Medical Nutrition Therapy program in Kent, WA, and other King County clinics. The position requires a mandatory COVID‑19 and flu vaccine.

Position

Summary

The RDN will work closely with medical providers, health educators, chronic care coordinators, and other clinical team members in an outpatient setting. The RDN is responsible for providing evidence‑based nutrition education and counseling to pediatric and adult patients referred by the Primary Care Provider in individual and group settings. The RD will also provide coverage to other King County clinics such as Federal Way, Des Moines, and Burien.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain complete and up‑to‑date charts and statistical program records; document assessment, treatment, and plan of action from counseling sessions in the medical record according to protocol.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with team members and other Sea Mar staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between Nutrition and/or WIC and other clinic and community services; make referrals as appropriate.
  • Assist with clerical and statistical program work as needed; attend selected clinic, MSS, and PHS Department meetings; participate in continuing education.
  • Act as a preceptor for dietetic interns, as appropriate.
  • Follow all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Clinical Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Identify and categorize each patient’s age‑specific grouping needs.
  • Interview clients from diverse populations; review and document client history, anthropometric and laboratory data, and current eating habits.
  • Use standard assessment tools and follow department policies and practices for screening, weighing, measuring, and reviewing dietary evaluations.
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality; document vendor and participant complaints and infractions.
  • Provide program orientation, nutrition requirements, and assist in scheduling client appointments, considering all programmatic and client needs.
  • Provide individual and group nutrition education according to program guidelines, utilizing client‑appropriate methods and materials.
  • Provide medical, MSS, and patient nutritional assessment and nutrition counseling.
  • Facilitate appointment times through scheduling and following up on missed appointments per protocol; coordinate services with other health professionals and cooperate with other departments.
  • Document assessment, treatment, and plan of action from counseling sessions in the medical record according to protocol.
Conditions of Employment
  • Sign an oath of permanent confidentiality covering all patient‑related information.
  • Maintain a clear background check from the Washington State Patrol.
  • Maintain an annual TB test.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR before hire and maintain it throughout employment.
