WAGE: $19.00 - $21.00 BASED ON EXPERIENCE
JOB SUMMARY:Under the general direction of the Director of Nursing, maintains resident medical records and files in accordance with Facility, State and Federal regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Maintains accurate daily census data inputting all resident admissions, discharges, hospital transfers, expirations and room changes.
- Files clinical documentation in the appropriate resident chart and maintains clinical records in accordance with regulations. Upon discharge of resident, ensures all paperwork is properly filed. Integrates all paper documents into electronic record as possible.
- Reviews resident open and closed records for completeness and corrects any deficiencies noted. Reports deficiencies to the Director of Nursing.
- Performs miscellaneous clerical tasks, including scanning and attaching documents in Matrix Care.
- Pulls records as appropriate for all Medical Records requests within the required timeframe and ensures proper delivery to the requesting party via mail, fax, or electronic means. A record of all files sent and the receiving party will be maintained in the department.
- Assists Admissions Department with admission of new residents as needed.
- Serves as liaison for Ancillary Services. Ensures room is reserved for visits and appropriate staff and equipment are available to assist providers.
- Serves as Appointment Scheduler for residents’ physician visits outside the facility. Arranges transportation for these visits.
- Is knowledgeable of Resident Rights and ensures resident privacy and dignity and helps ensure a safe, secure environment for all residents.
- Completes annual In-service training requirements, maintains acceptable attendance, and dresses in accordance with Dress Code Policy.
- Responsible for appropriate use of Facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud.
- Maintains confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and Facility information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Medical Office Administration/ Technology certification (or equivalent) or Medical Records experience preferred.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
- Computer skills necessary to effectively utilize word processing, database, and software applications including Electronic Health Records.
- Proficient typing and word processing skills necessary for the creation and compilation of various documents, communications and reports.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and outside service providers and to provide courteous and accurate information to residents, families, and the general public.
- Physical ability to regularly sit in one position for extended periods of time, sort resident charts, and reach/stoop/bend/kneel when pulling and filing resident charts.
