Overview
Established in 1894, for over 130 years, the Colonial Inn has hosted generations of families who return summer after summer to enjoy all that the Inn—and downtown Harbor Springs—has to offer. Comprising the Historic Main Inn, the East and West Plazas as well as the standalone Garden Apartment, the Colonial Inn provides guests with clean, comfortable rooms in a unique, historic, guest-centered environment, serving as home away from home for families and individuals.
Being the sole hotel within Harbor Springs, we are also a choice destination for weddings and other milestone events.
Our Front Desk Agents are the face of the Colonial Inn, setting the tone for outstanding customer service by greeting our guests in a friendly manner, ensuring a prompt and courteous check in and check out process, and coordinating guest services as needed. The right candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to handle problems that arise with poise and a positive attitude.

- Greet and welcome all guests
- Take and confirm guest reservations
- Answer phone calls in a professional and courteous manner, promptly relaying messages as required
- Monitor, organize and forward emails as needed
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance to accommodate guest service requests
- Communicate room offerings and on-site amenities to current and potential guests
- Keep ice, snacks, drinks and merchandise stocked and ready for guest purchase
- Provide knowledgeable suggestions of local restaurants and attractions
- Accurately post room charges and taxes to guest folios
- Verify account postings and balances
- Enhance guest experience by evaluating guest feedback, following up with guests
- Summarize operations and prepare reports for management as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Good understanding of office administration and basic bookkeeping practices
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Prior experience using hotel reservation software (i.e. Cloudbeds, Infor, etc.) preferred
- Ability to work at least 25 hours per week - weekends and holidays required
- $16 to $20 per hour, based on experience
- Earned Sick Pay in accordance with the State of Michigan
