UNIV HOSPITALITY SERVICES - Student Housekeeping Associate Job Classification Position summary

University Hospitality Services (UHS) is seeking dependable and detail-oriented students to join our summer housekeeping team. Student Housekeeping Associates help create a welcoming campus experience by preparing guest rooms, maintaining clean and organized spaces, assisting with events, and supporting daily hospitality operations. This position provides valuable experience in customer service, teamwork, and professional hospitality. Ideal candidates are reliable, hardworking, organized, and take pride in serving others.

Qualifications summary
  • Must be currently enrolled as an Andrews University student with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Previous housekeeping, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while following procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with guests, coworkers, and campus partners.
  • Ability to perform physical housekeeping duties, including lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be available for summer scheduling; valid driver’s license required for certain duties.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Clean and prepare guest rooms, suites, and assigned areas according to UHS hospitality standards.
  • Make beds, change linens, clean bathrooms, vacuum, dust, mop, and restock guest supplies.
  • Inspect rooms to ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness for guest arrival.
  • Maintain cleanliness of public areas, hallways, and hospitality spaces.
  • Assist with laundry, linen organization, inventory, and housekeeping supplies.
  • Support summer programs, conferences, and campus events while providing excellent service and representing UHS professionally.

  • Ability to manage time effectively, complete assigned tasks, and meet daily housekeeping expectations.

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license required for certain responsibilities, including operating campus vehicles or golf carts.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and restocking supplies.
  • Ability to safely operate housekeeping equipment and use cleaning products according to department procedures.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail while completing physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work environment
  • Works in a hospitality environment supporting guest rooms, University Towers, public spaces, and campus events.
  • Performs duties in a fast-paced setting requiring flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Works independently while completing assigned tasks and follows established housekeeping procedures.
