Human Resources Specialist
Reports to:
CEO
The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting and executing core HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, payroll coordination, and benefits administration. This role ensures that HR processes run efficiently while supporting a positive work environment and maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
Duties & Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle recruitment (job postings, screening, interviewing, onboarding)
- Coordinate and administer new hire onboarding and orientation programs
- Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR systems
- Support payroll processing and timekeeping
- Administer employee benefits programs and respond to employee inquiries
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Assist with performance management processes and employee evaluations
- Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions
- Maintain and update company policies, procedures, and employee handbook
- Coordinate training and development initiatives
- Support workers’ compensation, leave of absence, and FMLA administration
- Assist with audits, reporting, and HR metrics tracking
- Promote a positive company culture and employee engagement initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by management
- Sit for extended periods while working at a computer
- Occasionally stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs
- Use hands and arms for typing, filing, and handling office materials
- Maintain visual acuity for reviewing documents and computer work
- Efficient knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Efficient organizational and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Efficient time management and prioritization skills
- Experience with HRIS systems and payroll software
- Knowledge of manufacturing or industrial work environments
- Experience with benefits administration and compliance reporting
- Familiarity with employee engagement and training programs
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) is a plus
