IS Support Specialist
Location:
St. Joseph County ISD, Centreville, Michigan.
An IS Support Specialist specializes in application, hardware, network, and Internet service support. The specialist installs, modifies, repairs, diagnoses, and researches hardware, software, and Internet systems in the educational environment, supporting Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, Chrome
OS, GSuite for Education, and Microsoft 365. Provides technical assistance to local districts instructional technology needs.
- Maintain compliance with the St. Joseph County ISD Personnel Handbook.
- Pass FBI fingerprint analysis and felony conviction review.
- Accurately maintain inventory of devices.
- Respond to end‑user inquiries via ticket system: diagnose and repair hardware, software, Internet, and user issues; enter, maintain, and update tickets.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of network data.
- Create, update, and modify knowledge base documents for hardware, software, and data system procedures.
- Assist students logging into systems using the Student Information System.
- Work within Google Admin to support Chrome devices and software management in the Google ecosystem, including Google Classroom.
- Use network management systems to diagnose device connection and security issues.
- Provide light support with physical security products and update access for authorized personnel.
- Support Mobile Device Manager for endpoint devices.
- Collaborate with district staff on technology purchases per local policy.
- Provide support for printers and print‑management services.
- Assist with conference‑room setup.
- Familiarize with district classroom audio‑visual tools to assist end users.
- Recommend or perform minor remedial actions to correct user problems.
- Deliver end‑user training individually or in groups; provide new‑hire orientation.
- Coordinate with IS Team Members for coverage and support for the county consortium.
- Follow IS Services team decisions regarding operation, installation, and procedures.
- Work with the IS Network Team to resolve local district issues.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance and physical presence at the designated job site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience, with at least one‑to‑three years in a related field.
- Highly motivated, initiative‑driven, and efficient at keeping systems and users optimal.
- Effective organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent customer‑service and interpersonal skills.
- Team player with strong problem‑solving ability.
- Optional: experience in an educational environment.
- Responsibility to obtain and maintain all required trainings, certificates, and approvals, and provide documentation before expiration.
- Good driving record and valid state driver’s license.
- A+ and Network+ certifications preferred.
- Strong knowledge of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, database management, word processing, spreadsheets, and open systems technology.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; effective time‑management skills.
- Skill to travel to work sites and work a flexible schedule.
- Good judgment, decision‑making aligned with policies and procedures.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply hardware/software manuals and instructions.
- Experience setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronics equipment and networks.
Regular computer use, video display viewing, hand and arm reach, sitting, gripping, talking, and hearing. Ability to lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Use of ladder as needed. Close vision and focus adjustment required. Operate a personal motor vehicle. Quiet noise level.
Term of Employment260‑day position. Salary determined by Board of Education.
Reports ToDirector of Information Services.
Position TypeFull‑time. Salary: $15.09 to $16.39 per hour.
