Paralegal

a nationwide law firm specializing in assisting veterans with their service-connected disability claims before the Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a full-time Paralegal/Claims Developer. This role focuses on developing veterans' disability claims for submission to the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Board of Veterans' Appeals.

Under the supervision of our attorneys, the Paralegal/Claims Developer plays a key role in reviewing client files, gathering additional evidence to strengthen the development of client claims, and drafting arguments and appeals.

Please note this full-time role includes a significant amount of research and writing.

• Manage, maintain, and update client files with all pertinent correspondence and communications.
• Learn how to apply VA Case Law and effectively translate it into clear, persuasive written arguments and appeals
• Conduct research, review medical records and military personnel records, determine how to further develop client claims, draft appeals/arguments/claims
• Track and maintain appeal deadlines
• Communicate with clients via phone, email, and mail
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's Degree or paralegal certificate, preferred
• Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated
• Ability to apply business English when writing, proofreading and editing
• Advanced computer skills (MS Office suite, Internet, company software)
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
