Buyer - Intermediate

Position Summary

Develop supply base, negotiate pricing, term, and agreements for materials utilized in the production of Cooper Standard products and in support of Cooper Standard business operations. Optimize the overall cost of materials. Implement supply chain strategies and ensure execution of company pricing and terms & conditions agreements.

• Execute and sustain your commodity strategies and work cross functionally with Manufacturing, Sales and Engineering.
• Understand and investigate key market dynamics and commodity trends including raw materials to validate cost competitiveness.
• Identify and implement lean savings projects through supply chain and operations involvement; lead cross functional teams as necessary to realize lean savings.
• Manage supply base with respect to their ability to provide products and services in accordance with the organization’s business requirements, cost parameters, terms and agreements.
• Develop and sustain relationships with key internal and external customers.
• Act as a mentor for colleagues; lead projects as defined by leadership.
• Lead annual supplier business reviews focused on strengthening strategic relationships in order to improve key Cooper Standard metrics.
• Support the resolution of critical supply chain issues and maintain supplier relationships.
• Maintain commercial documents as needed.

• 2+ years relevant experience.
• Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or related field.
• Preferred background in Tier 1 Automotive Purchasing.
• Prior experience leading teams involved in negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience leading diverse or cross-functional teams/projects (preferred).
• Manufacturing or technical knowledge (preferred).

• Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor.
