We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our team who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all purchasing activities within the company. This role develops supplier relationships, negotiates pricing, monitors supplier performance, and drives continuous improvement throughout the procurement process.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands‑on, capable of developing sourcing strategies while also managing day‑to‑day purchasing activities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the procurement of raw materials, fabricated components, electrical components, purchased assemblies, services, and indirect supplies
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support cost, quality, delivery, and inventory objectives
- Issue purchase orders and monitor supplier performance to ensure on‑time delivery
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory
- Monitor material shortages and proactively resolve supply chain disruptions
- Identify and develop new suppliers as needed
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Lead supplier negotiations for pricing, payment terms, contracts, and service agreements
- Analyze purchasing data and market trends to identify cost‑saving opportunities
- Lead cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or delivery performance
- Develop and track purchasing metrics, including supplier performance, cost savings, inventory turns, and on‑time delivery
- Support quality initiatives, supplier corrective actions, and vendor qualification processes
- Contribute to process improvement efforts across purchasing, inventory management, and supply chain operations
- Maintain accurate purchasing data, supplier records, and procurement documentation within the ERP system
- Support vendor evaluation and supplier management requirements related to ISO 9001 and other quality initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements
- Strong understanding of inventory management and material planning principles
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities
- Experience purchasing fabricated components, industrial equipment, electrical controls, or engineered‑to‑order products
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment
- Supervisory or management experience
