Job DescriptionThe General Manager leads a profitable, growth‑oriented business in a specific location (“Market Center”) with full profit and loss responsibility. This comprehensive operations leader is responsible for rental uniforms and adjacent products, overseeing service, sales, production, merchandise, human resources, safety, and finance. The role drives profitability and growth by putting the customer first while investing in people through coaching, engagement, and motivation.
Responsibilities- Manage a Market Center (MC) location, possibly with depots and service centers, generating annual revenue of $10M+.
- Drive profitability and growth by acquiring new customers and retaining existing relationships, maintaining the market center’s total managed volume.
- Select, develop, retain, and motivate employees to build strong customer relationships.
- Ensure compliance with contracts and company policies and procedures.
- Participate in hands‑on activities across the Market Center and other field locations.
- Integrate service and production departments to achieve organizational goals.
- Oversee overall MC results, including metrics in Service, Production, Sales, Supply Chain, HR, and Finance.
- Set clear departmental expectations and lead by example.
- Ensure efficient daily operations of the location in accordance with established business values, policies, and processes.
- Implement and evaluate programs to maximize customer retention.
- Develop and maintain valid service agreements, ensure a positive service attitude, quality assurance, and efficient route management.
- Adjust pricing as needed, whether on a broad or account‑specific basis.
- Review financial statements and performance data, identifying areas for remediation and improvement.
- Oversee timely collection of the company’s accounts receivable.
- Create a pervasive sales culture that fosters team selling via the “Together in Growth” (TIG) and Shared Lead programs.
- Support new business generation, providing leadership for new sales opportunities.
- Cultivate relationships with market center top customers.
- Conduct weekly in‑person meetings with department heads to review performance.
- Promote and sustain a safety culture, investigating and reporting all incidents promptly.
- Implement, administer, and evaluate production programs and procedures.
- Conduct short‑ and long‑range planning to meet production goals and standards.
- Manage merchandise budget and inventory to reduce spend while ensuring adequate supply.
- Sustain merchandise control billing and collections to recover costs associated with lost or ruined goods.
- Partner with labor relations or HR in union or non‑union environments to ensure timely disciplinary action.
- Conduct performance evaluations for department leaders, providing specific feedback on management and leadership skills.
- Handle hiring, placement, and removal of location workforce, consulting on staffing actions.
- Lead talent development programs and efforts within the MC.
