Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and continuously improving quality assurance and quality control systems at Lume Cannabis Company’s large-scale cultivation and processing facility in Evart, Michigan. This role ensures all products meet internal quality standards, regulatory requirements, and consumer safety expectations.
Responsibilities- Oversee final product release to ensure quality, purity, and potency standards are met.
- Design, implement, and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with Michigan cannabis regulations and CRA requirements.
- Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
- Manage product deviations, recalls, and consumer complaints.
- Review laboratory results and Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Train staff on sanitation, hygiene, and quality protocols.
- Partner cross-functionally to embed quality standards throughout operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Engineering, or related field required.
- 5+ years of QA/QC experience; 2–3 years in a management role preferred.
- Experience in regulated industries such as cannabis, pharmaceuticals, or food manufacturing required.
- Knowledge of Michigan cannabis laws and METRC.
- Experience with SOPs, CAPA, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Understanding of cannabis testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of OSHA and sanitation standards.
- Oversee quality standards across cannabis cultivation activities including propagation, flowering, harvesting, drying, and curing.
- Ensure environmental controls (temperature, humidity, airflow, lighting) meet quality and contamination-prevention standards.
- Establish and enforce Integrated Pest Management (IPM) quality controls in coordination with cultivation leadership.
- Oversee quality controls for extraction, processing, and packaging to prevent cross-contamination and ensure batch integrity.
- Ensure accurate batch tracking, labeling, and reconciliation from cultivation through processing and final packaging.
- Partner with cultivation and processing leaders to drive yield consistency while maintaining compliance and quality benchmarks.
- Review and approve SOPs specific to trimming, drying, curing, extraction, infusion, and packaging processes.
- Ensure all waste handling and destruction activities meet Michigan CRA requirements and internal quality standards.
