The Weld Engineer is responsible for developing welding machinery and processes to manufacture materials for use in Bandit products that must meet specialized designs and performance specifications. They will design, examine, and evaluate welds as well as plan, supervise, and document welding operations. They will adhere to all Bandit safety, quality, inventory and production guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Analyze product failure data and test results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions.
- Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration.
- Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials.
- Conduct training sessions on new material productions, applications, or manufacturing methods.
- Supervise production and testing processes for manufacturing.
- Manage welding procedure qualifications and generate welding procedures to assist manufacturing and welding employees.
- Evaluate the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems, programming or calibrating to achieve maximum quantity and quality.
- Program complex robotic systems.
- Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Review welding procedures, processes, and documentation, update as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Robotic welding experience preferred but not required.
- Bachelors’ degree preferred but not required.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in related position
- Required to stand, walk, push, pull, stoop, pinch, grasp, and/or bend
- Requires employee to occasionally work both inside/outside in heat/cold, and/or wet/humid conditions.
- Required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injury.
- Occasionally lift 60 pounds
