SUMMARYThis is responsible work, generally of a routine nature. Supplies parts and/or material as needed as well as other duties as assigned. Will dispose of scrap material for purpose or regrind. Direct supervision is provided by the shift supervisor, but the routine nature of the work allows for reasonable independent work scheduling within prescribed guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds.
- Repeated bending and lifting during the shift.
- Must be able to wear steel‑toe footwear.
- Adequate visual acuity to qualify for a forklift license.
- Must be able to operate a pallet jack for product movement.
- Must be capable of climbing ladders/stairs for material changes.
- Must be capable of standing for entire shift.
- Must be physically capable of walking an entire shift.
Under general supervision is responsible for the following major tasks (check those that apply):
- Set up, operate, fill, empty, and identify pre‑dried hoppers, grinders, definers, metal separator, and similar equipment.
- Assure hoppers/dryers are refilled with proper material utilizing vacuum feeders or hand fill method to insure hoppers don’t run empty.
- Assist in operating presses including relief, set‑up, color changes, and mold changes as needed and directed.
- Maintain general housekeeping.
- Gauge, train, and assist other utilities including relief for breaks.
- Check that the dryer is on and working correctly (every shift).
- Check and clean filters daily (every shift).
- Maintain log books, understand and use supply Kanbans.
- Identify and separate material for grinding.
- Correctly identify material for grinding and label Kirby’s for material movement.
- Mix materials by hand or system as required.
- Clean, operate, and maintain Maguire unit at press.
- Sort and grind parts as necessary.
- Perform general troubleshooting for material loader system.
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping expectations of grinder/loader area.
- Other work as assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma or GED.
SKILLS AND ABILITIESPossesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices. Ability to pass color hue and color blindness test.
- A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional score of 16 on the Cognitive portion).
This position typically does not require any travel.
