Insect Team Lead (Full-Time)

We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Insect Team Lead in the Insects Order Fulfillment Department at our Durand facility. You will impact communication, efficiency, and accountability within the Insect Team by ensuring accurate, high-quality order fulfillment during steady and high-volume periods. Primary responsibilities include performing all essential Insect Packer duties, delegating daily tasks, updating the runner sheet, supporting quality control, and maintaining clear communication across teams.

This position is for someone who loves bugs and thrives in a fast-paced production environment. You will work with your team to provide leadership, organization, and support to ensure customers receive healthy, properly packed insects every time.

• Starting Wage: $18.00/hour or +$1.00 to current rate (if internal candidate)

• Improves communication within the Insect Team
• Ensures clear task delegation and accountability
• Increases efficiency and manpower during high-volume periods

• Performing all essential Insect Packer duties (handling live insects, packing orders, counting inventory)
• Updating and managing the runner sheet daily
• Ensuring all end-of-day (EOD) tasks are completed
• Communicating with the Insect Team, Durand Warehouse, and Owosso Insect Team
• Delegating tasks and adjusting assignments throughout the day
• Supporting quality control checks and providing feedback when standards are not met

• Availability to work Sunday and Monday
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Full dexterity in arms and legs
• Ability to pass respirator fit testing and training
• Ability to efficiently and consistently perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to lift 30+ lbs
• Ability to stand for long periods of time

• Previous experience working with insects
• Previous leadership or lead experience
• Production environment involving live insects
• Standing for long periods of time
• Regular lifting of 30+ lbs
• PPE required, including respirator and pallet jack training
