SummaryPosition is responsible for changes, set-up, and maintenance of machine and equipment parameters. The Paint Technician must follow and maintain safety practices to ensure that self and other team members are working in a safe environment to prevent injuries, and that all machines and equipment are properly functioning. The role interfaces with purchasing, shipping, receiving, molding, finishing, engineering, and quality assurance to assure products are produced in a timely and cost effective manner.
Physical Requirements- Must be physically capable of walking for the entire work shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Repeated bending and lifting during the shift.
- Must be able to wear steel‑toe footwear.
- Ability to work from heights with proper PPE.
- Assist in supervising and managing shift and training of operators and utilities.
- Serve as acting Supervisor when supervisor is absent.
- Assist in coordinating workflow throughout the department.
- Adjust, maintain, and monitor machines to assure product control.
- Coordinate and advise on product and production problems and changes with peers on other shifts.
- Provide technical expertise and collaborate with other departments as necessary to assure quality, productivity, and inspection procedures meet department and shift needs.
- Participate in company programs such as communications, job training, etc.
- Comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the company.
- Set, troubleshoot, and adjust all paint and secondary equipment.
- Complete all applicable reports.
- Complete process set‑up verifications and changes to ensure that product meets design intent and customer specifications.
- Ensure that all daily process checks are completed accurately.
- Use a variety of tools to perform machine set‑up and troubleshooting including mixing paint, pad‑a‑print, hot stamp.
- SPC charting of color and gloss reading from paint samples or molded parts.
- Repair and rebuild paint guns and paint racks as needed.
- Measure and comply with environmental health and safety system.
- Monitor housekeeping and maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Perform other duties as required or directed.
- Ensure communication of any changes to process is documented on OIS and training is complete.
- Function as utility for the paint line.
- Complete Paint Tech Level 1 training within 7 days of starting the job.
- Complete Paint Tech Level 2 training within 90 days of starting the job.
- Complete Paint Tech Level 3 training within 180 days of starting the job.
One year work‑related experience, and successful completion of all related training courses or willingness to enroll in the next available class. Must meet job posting requirements as outlined in the company handbook.
Skills and Abilities- Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.
- A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional Score of 16 on the Cognitive portion).
This position typically does not require any travel.
