3D Vision Robot Programmer — Bin Picking Systems

Location:

Orion, Michigan

Employment Type:

Contract (Mid-July through December 2026)
Compensation: $33.00–$40.00 per hour (commensurate with proven work history)
A day in the life

You arrive on site, open a fresh project in Photoneo, and start a careful hand–eye calibration. Bins and totes are staged; you tune localization profiles and run trials on real parts. Before lunch, you’ve taught a safe start pose and a robust drop path, then switch over to Keyence to validate another 3D bin scenario. The afternoon is for logic—crafting pick-to-Matrox sequences, flip/qualify checks, and bin empty/tote empty routines—followed by a quick Ethernet handshake test between the robot, vision controller, and the client/server.

You wrap the day debugging with the PLC programmer, moving a cell from teach to fully automatic operation.

What you’ll own Vision systems integration (Photoneo, Keyence, Matrox):
Configure and calibrate Photoneo and Keyence 3D bin picking environments; load Matrox 2D/3D projects, adjust camera parameters, and craft precise multi-face detection “recipes.”Calibration & localization:
Execute hand–eye calibration, scan EOAT, and establish accurate localization profiles for bins and totes.

Robot programming:
Teach complex paths (rough approaches, start poses, drop and reject routines) and develop advanced logic, including pick-to-Matrox, flip/qualify, and empty-bin/tote sequences.

Integration & communications:
Stand up reliable Ethernet communications among robots, vision controllers, and client/server architectures.

Hardware & commissioning:
Commission robots end-to-end; install and configure Photoneo or Keyence vision cabinets; set up EOAT with MAGSWITCH magnetic grippers and suction cups; verify and test functions.

PLC collaboration:
Partner with PLC engineers to troubleshoot interlocks and transition systems from manual teach to automatic mode.

Process & quality:
Apply deep bin-picking expertise—file loading, simulation deliverables, and rough grasping methods—then fine-tune grasp strategies and localization for maximum reliability.
