Join Looking Glass Brewing Company, a well known brewery in the Lansing area. We are currently looking for a passionate, hard-working individual to join our production team. Prior brewery experience is preferred; a strong work ethic is required. The ideal candidate for this position can learn and follow direction, work well interdependently with the other members of our team, and shares a commitment to the production of world class ales and lagers.
Job SummaryPerforming backside of brew tasks and assisting head brewer with all necessary tasks to produce quality beer. This position can move from hourly to salary and can be promote to head brewer once you have proven yourself.
PrimaryRoles & Responsibilities
- Assist with brewhouse operation: including wort production, cleaning of lauter tun, grain milling, and weekly brewhouse CIP as needed
- Use proper cleaning and sanitation procedures on heat exchangers and piping to fermenters to ensure product quality
- Perform yeast drops
- Rest and crash tanks according to the weekly schedule.
- Maintain proper awareness and adherence of SOP’s
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all hop and grain storage areas
- Help keep brewhouse and cellar vessels/area clean and organized
- Securing the facility at the end of production week, including tank audit and completion of closing checklist
- Assist with cask conditioning program, specifically cask cleaning and sanitization, and specialty beer production as needed
- Train for and participate in sensory program
- Assist Lead Brewer and cellar lead with projects and other tasks as needed
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as needed
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to be flexible with schedule, including working overnight shifts
- Report to work on time
- Proper use and handling of chemicals
- Repeated lifting of 35–75-lb. returned kegs
- Must wear company-supplied steel-toed boots throughout entire shift, and wear company-supplied safety
- Wear glasses and gloves when necessary
- Safely operate fork lift, pallet jacks, and other machinery
- Adhere to company policies
- Must maintain current TABC server certification
- Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area.
- Support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures at all times
Prior brewery experience is preferred
