Manufacturing Engineer
The Manufacturing Engineer supports CNC and machining operations with a strong focus on the production floor, spending approximately 80% of the time on-site at the machines and 20% in the office. This role leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, provides day-to-day engineering support to plant operations, and ensures robust process documentation and equipment readiness for current production and new product introductions.

- Support the CNC and machining area by working closely with six large CNC centers and responding to troubleshooting needs as they arise.
- Spend the majority of time on the production floor to monitor operations, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Set up CNC machines and program them using G-code to ensure efficient and accurate machining operations.
- Lead the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
- Provide engineering support for plant operations and address daily production problems using structured root cause analysis methods.
- Develop, maintain, and update quality process documentation, including process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, standard work instructions, and set-up sheets.
- Support the specification, quoting, purchase, and runoff of capital equipment, tooling, and systems required for manufacturing.
- Set up equipment for new product introductions, including manual work cells and manual assembly operations, to ensure smooth transitions into production.
- Collaborate with toolmakers and other skilled trades to troubleshoot equipment issues in a union environment where direct hands-on work on equipment may be limited.
- Work cross-functionally with design, production, and quality teams to align manufacturing processes with product and customer requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC and machining environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting CNC machines and machining equipment.
- Proficiency in G-code programming for CNC machines.
- Proficiency in Solid Works for designing and improving manufacturing processes and tooling.
- Experience with manual assembly operations.
- Ability to perform structured root cause analysis to resolve production problems.
- Strong documentation skills for creating and maintaining process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, standard work instructions, and set-up sheets.
"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Creo for engineering design and documentation.
- Experience with AutoCAD for layouts, tooling, and process documentation.
- Experience in assembly operations, including manual work cells and manual work assembly.
- Experience supporting capital equipment specification, quoting, purchase, and runoff.
- Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment by collaborating with toolmakers and other skilled trades.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
The engineer supports six large CNC centers and manual work cells in a unionized manufacturing facility, where direct hands-on work on equipment may be limited and troubleshooting often occurs in partnership with toolmakers and other skilled trades.
Schedule is from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hastings, MI.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
