Location: Spring Lake

CNC Operator (2nd & 3rd Shift)

This role involves operating CNC and Hydromat machines in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment on 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will run production equipment, perform quality checks, and follow detailed specifications to produce precision parts. The company provides training on machine operation and offers opportunities for growth into trainer roles and other departments.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC and Hydromat machines to produce parts for the automotive industry on assigned 2nd (3:00 pm–11:00 pm) or 3rd (11:00 pm–7:00 am) shifts.
  • Read and interpret job specifications, part prints, routings, work instructions, and process control plans to determine dimensions, tolerances, and required part quantities.
  • Set up and adjust machines according to job specifications, including making appropriate machine adjustments as needed.
  • Change tooling as specified on tool change charts and accurately record all tooling changes.
  • Safely load specified bar stock and other materials into machines, ensuring proper alignment and secure setup.
  • Perform quality checks on parts, using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to distinguish good parts from bad parts.
  • Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and assist with basic troubleshooting to maintain consistent production quality.
  • Work collaboratively with set-up personnel and engineering to resolve machine or process problems when necessary.
  • Follow all work instructions and standard operating procedures to maintain consistent quality and production output.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with plant safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Work overtime during the week and every other weekend as needed, averaging approximately 50–55 hours per week.
Essential Skills
  • Experience working in a CNC manufacturing or machining environment (automotive industry experience is a plus).
  • Ability to operate CNC machines and learn Hydromat machine operation through provided training.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong ability to work with production machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, part specifications, and process documentation.
  • Proficiency in using micrometers to perform accurate measurements.
  • Ability to distinguish a good part from a bad part based on specifications and visual inspection.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for machine operation issues.
  • Comfort with quality checks using calipers and other measuring tools.
  • Willingness and ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and regular overtime, including every other weekend.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to following safety and quality procedures.

  • Experience with CNC lathes, machine operation, and basic machine setup.
  • Background in machining or manufacturing for the automotive industry.
  • Interest in cross-training and moving into trainer roles or other departments over time.
  • Willingness to participate in further education and skills development supported by the company after 180 days of employment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
