Role Overview :
The Material Handler & General Operator role supports daily production by managing raw materials, assisting with machine operations, and ensuring efficient workflow. This role involves handling sheet metal and other materials, loading and unloading laser cutting and press brake machines, and performing general fabrication tasks as needed. You will be exposed to various tasks in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
● Material Handling: ○ Receive, organize, and stage raw materials for production ○ Load materials into and out of machines ○ Pack cut materials safely onto skids ○ Assist with loading and unloading pick ups and deliveries from vendors and customers
● Basic Machine Operation: ○ Operate CNC laser cutters, press brakes, punches, and milling machines ○ Make minor programming and machine setting adjustments as needed ○ Utilize the ERP system effectively to keep work flowing through the facility and to record machine time and labor time ○ Carry out fabrication tasks which may involve drilling, tapping, sanding, welding, and cutting materials ○ Help the Laser Floor Coordinator keep jobs on schedule
● Part Inspection & Quality Control: ○ Check cut and formed parts for accuracy ○ Inspect finished parts for accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools ○ Remove defects and ensure quality standards are met
● Shop Organization & Maintenance: ○ Keep work areas clean and organized ○ Maintain stock of and inform Laser Floor Coordinator of all tools, PPE, and consumables that need to be ordered ○ Help maintain the inventory of sheet material and remnants ○ Remove all scrap from the building as often as possible
● Safety & Compliance: ○ Follow proper handling procedures for materials and equipment ○ Help develop SOP and safety protocols for laser cutters ○ Ensure a safe work environment, preventing trip hazards, pinch points, and other manufacturing floor risks ○ Use all safety features on the machines ○ Complete all compliance training assigned to you by HR ○ Using all necessary PPE including but not limited to: safety toe shoes, welding glasses/helmets, welding gloves, protective clothing, safety glasses Qualifications
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
● Previous experience using CNC equipment, laser cutters, mills, press brakes is preferred but not required.
● Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
● Basic understanding of safety protocols in an industrial setting.
● Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions.
● Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, if necessary. Compensation
● Competitive hourly wage $24-$26/hr starting rate with potential for a raise after 90 days.
