Role Overview :
The General Floor Operator role supports general metal fabrication activities, including part preparation, manual operations, operation of basic CNC equipment, and some welding. The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and eager to develop technical skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment. You will be exposed to various tasks in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
● Shop Organization & Maintenance: ○ Keep work areas clean and organized ○ Maintain stock of all tools, PPE, and consumables that need to be ordered ○ Work with the administrator to keep all consumables in stock
● Welding and Machine Operation ○ Perform basic welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components ○ Sand, grind, tap, and deburr fabricated parts to meet quality and finishing standards ○ Operate CNC equipment such as press brakes, laser cutters, or saws ○ Support operators, fabricators, welders, and machinists with various production tasks and material handling as needed ○ Utilize the ERP system effectively to keep work flowing through the facility and to record machine time and labor time
● Part Inspection & Quality Control: ○ Check cut and formed parts for accuracy ○ Inspect finished parts for accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools ○ Remove defects and ensure quality standards are met
● Safety & Compliance: ○ Follow proper handling procedures for materials and equipment ○ Help develop SOP and safety protocols for laser cutters ○ Assist with general shop labor needs including facility upkeep ○ Ensure a safe work environment, preventing trip hazards, pinch points, and other manufacturing floor risks ○ Follow all provided safety SOP ○ Use all safety features on the machines ○ Complete all compliance training assigned to you by HR ○ Using all necessary PPE including but not limited to: safety toe shoes, welding glasses/helmets, welding gloves, protective clothing, safety glasses Job Qualifications
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred but not required.
● Previous experience welding is preferred but not required.
● Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
● Basic understanding of safety protocols in an industrial setting.
● Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions.
● Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, if necessary. Compensation
● Competitive hourly wage $22-$24/hr starting rate with potential for a raise after 90 days.
