Sugar Specialist

Michigan Sugar Company has a full-time opportunity (typically year round but possible layoff during summer months) for a Sugar Specialist at the Carrollton Warehouse. This position is an hourly position working various schedules and is part of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers Local # 259-G.
Job Summary:
Employees must be able to safely and efficiently operate the following: bulk sugar loading/receiving, powdered sugar bagging and stacking, molasses loading/receiving, lift truck, and track mobile. All operations must be performed to meet SQF and GMP guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Fill and properly measure bulk sugar trailers & molasses trucks or cars
- Accurately complete paperwork daily
- Operate powdered mill, adjust starch, adjust weights and take sugar samples.
- Operate & setup, do magnet checks on tote machine & stack totes with fork lift.
- Maintain valid fork truck and track mobile license.
- Follow all safe work practices and procedures for assigned tasks.
- Understand and follow SQF & GMP guidelines.
- Fill and hand stack bags weighing 50 frequently during the shift.
- Climb stairs, ladders, use catwalks bend & lift repetitively
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Able to work outside in all seasons
Position
Qualifications:
- Computer skills, math, written and oral communication skills
- Follow all SQF & GMP quality system guidelines & safety practices.
- Physically able to lift up to 50lbs and work in any condition, indoors or outdoors.
- Maintain a valid fork truck license
- Work any shift and weekend overtime as required.
- Able to climb stairs, ladders, use catwalks, bend and lift throughout the day.
- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Physically able to frequently stand, stoop, climb, balance, crouch, kneel, and crawl.
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to hot and/or cold conditions and airborne particles
- Flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Must be able to work safely in high places and near moving mechanical parts.
- Work in a team setting as needed to ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently
