A confidential manufacturing client is seeking a hands‑on shift leader to oversee daily production, develop employees, and deliver safe, reliable output. This role partners with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to solve problems and keep the shift aligned with customer requirements.
What You’ll Do as a 3rd Shift Production Supervisor:- Direct shift production, staffing, assignments, breaks, overtime, and workflow across plastics manufacturing operations.
- Coach and train employees on equipment operation, work instructions, quality expectations, and safe work practices.
- Monitor machines, molds, auxiliary equipment, process parameters, cycle times, material use, and product quality.
- Lead startups, shutdowns, mold changes, changeovers, and line‑clearance activities.
- Troubleshoot equipment, mold, material, and processing issues; coordinate support and escalation as needed.
- Drive schedule attainment while reducing downtime, scrap, production losses, and quality defects.
- Review shift metrics including throughput, OEE, yield, labor, downtime, scrap, and quality.
- Enforce PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, housekeeping, and 5S+1 expectations.
- Partner on root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear shift handoffs and communicate priorities, risks, equipment status, and open issues.
- At least five years of experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment; plastics processing or blow molding experience is strongly preferred.
- At least five years of production leadership, supervisory, or team‑lead experience.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing safety, employee performance, attendance, and operational accountability.
- Ability to interpret production schedules, work instructions, quality standards, and process specifications.
- Data‑driven approach with Excel proficiency and experience tracking production efficiency, scrap, downtime, labor, and quality.
- Comfort using measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
