EHS Engineer GD

A heavy industrial manufacturing company is seeking an EHS Engineer to support its facility south of Kalamazoo MI, in the Three Rivers MI area.

Working closely with plant leadership, the EHS Engineer will help drive a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

• Lead plant EHS programs and compliance activities.
• Conduct workplace assessments and implement risk reduction measures.
• Deliver safety and environmental training programs.
• Manage incident investigations and support the incident learning process.
• Coordinate medical surveillance and employee qualification programs.
• Maintain environmental compliance programs, including SWPPP, SPCC, EMS, and air/water permitting requirements.
• Serve as the site's primary contact for routine environmental matters.
• Lead spill response efforts and support emergency preparedness activities.
• Build strong relationships with employees, supervisors, and plant leadership to strengthen safety performance.

• BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or heavy industry (co-op/internship experience considered).
• Working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Experience with incident investigations, hazard recognition, and risk reduction.
• Familiarity with machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout, confined spaces, hazard communication, ergonomics, and OSHA recordkeeping.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
