The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator will support the creation, publication, monitoring, and management of all marketing materials for Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research (“Center”) and Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary (“CHG”), including social media, web management, and digital marketing. This position will serve as a “chief storyteller,” sharing insights and information about the Center and CHG to build awareness, interest, and traffic for tours and programming.
In the digital marketing role, this individual will assist with the digital promotion of the Center's and CHG’s programming and special events through a variety of communication channels, including digital advertising, targeted email campaigns, and website content creation.
This position will also oversee all aspects of the Center/CHG’s expanding Portrait Photography Program, a vital annual revenue source.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Working with the leadership team at the Center, develop a comprehensive social media strategy for the Center and CHG that includes engaging social media campaigns highlighting tours, programming, and collections to expand public awareness of both entities and drive visitor traffic.
- Through the Center and CHG social media channels, promote tours, programs and events, with the goal of increasing awareness, participation, and attendance. Work closely with curators and archivists to develop content for the Center. Advise on, conduct research, and help develop audio and video content for both entities.
- Create and schedule content across all Center/CHG social platforms.
- Analyze social media metrics and generate reports to establish benchmarks and inform strategy across all social media channels.
- Monitor and respond to social media channel comments across all Center and CHG channels.
- Produce the Center and CHG electronic weekly and monthly newsletters.
- In conjunction with Cranbrook’s Marketing and Communications team, maintain the calendar listings for Center and CHG, ensuring that all events are posted on social media channels, websites, and listed in community calendars.
- Work with Center staff to identify and develop other digital communications strategies, such as targeted email campaigns and paid digital placements for both the Center and CHG.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments and best practices in social media and other digital engagement.
- In conjunction with Center leadership, implement content updates to the websites of the Center and CHG, and ensure information is kept current; suggest and implement improvements as appropriate.
- Coordinate all aspects of the Portrait Photography Program, including online booking, client questions, and, as necessary, assist with onsite oversight of sessions.
- Oversee photography and film shoots for the Center and CHG, including commercial and public relations shoots in the historic house museums as well as other historic campus, spaces, and landscapes.
- Assist with the design and production of merchandise related to the Center and CHG.
- Oversee the marketing of all merchandise related to the Center and CHG.
- Oversee the production of print materials for the Center and CHG, including rack cards, way finding maps, and programming signage.
