The Development Director is a new position at Woodlands Behavioral Healthcare Network [WBHN] and will be critical to the organization’s future impact and sustainability. This role will work closely with the executive leadership to assess existing funding mechanisms and develop a strategy to pursue new opportunities to promote the organization’s fiscal stability and growth.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESCreate and implement an annual fundraising and revenue plan to sustain and expand revenue opportunities.
Collaborate with leadership, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders to develop a public communications strategy and guidelines for the organization which will provide the community and potential funders with insights into our services with the intent to attract new funding partners.
Conduct research on CMH specific regulatory barriers to different funding options and serve as the subject matter expert in prospecting efforts.
Research and identify potential funding opportunities.
Conduct grant writing and application efforts to submit high-quality and timely applications.
Develop and implement a grant management database to track the lifespan of grants.
Serve as the grant administrator and complete funder-specific collaboration with the CFO, this role will develop a grant utilization tool to monitor grant spending.
May supervise a small team depending on special projects related to the growth of the organization.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.
At least three to five years of nonprofit grant management and writing experience.
Proven track record in cultivation and closing of grants.
Valid driver’s license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Five years’ experience in grant writing and management
Demonstrated project management skills including planning and budgeting.
Access to reliable transportation
Any combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIESPresents a welcoming manner to all customers and demonstrates engagement with individuals served, which adheres to the fidelity of a recovery model.
Lived experiences with diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, including experience with behavioral health issues is preferred. Must be supportive of culturally competent recovery-based practices and person-centered planning as a shared decision-making process. Must support a trauma informed culture of safety to aid consumers in their recovery process.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams applications
Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and have access to a vehicle during working hours.
Demonstrate time management, organizational and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of social service agencies and available resources
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with prospective funders.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
Ability to effectively interact with various teams within WBHN as well as external organizations.
Ability to accept supervision and complete assignments and duties accurately and in a timely manner.
