The Northwest Food Coalition Coordinator supports regional food security by coordinating Coalition operations, strengthening member engagement, supporting data and reporting needs, and serving as a liaison between Coalition partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is employed by Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan through Goodwill's role as fiscal sponsor for the Northwest Food Coalition. The Coordinator works on behalf of the Northwest Food Coalition and carries out priorities established by the Coalition through its Operating Committee. As a Goodwill employee, the Coordinator is expected to follow Goodwill policies, procedures, standards of conduct, and employment practices.

Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan and Northwest Food Coalition.
Perform work in a safe manner by observing all Goodwill safety policies and procedures.
Interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner.
Respect the diversity of others, including but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.

Membership Coordination and Support:

Process applications, onboard, and train new member organizations.
Maintain member records (agreements, certifications, status).
Serve as the primary contact for member questions and issues.
Track participation, attendance, and member compliance with Coalition expectations.
Conduct regular site visits to member agencies.
Support recruitment and engagement of new NFC members.
Facilitate monthly member meetings including agendas and materials.

Data Management and Reporting:

Collect and compile monthly Coalition statistics.
Track reporting compliance.
Prepare reports for the Operating Committee and membership.
Participate in/coordinate surveys and needs assessments (e.g. community health needs assessments).

Communication and Administration:

Coordinate member and public communications.
Serve as primary contact for inquiries.
Develop meeting agendas and materials.
Maintain records and mailing lists.

Financial Coordination:

Serve as liaison between Goodwill Northern Michigan as fiscal sponsor, the NFC Treasurer, the Operating Committee, and Coalition partners.
Process limited financial transactions in coordination with the NFC Treasurer and Goodwill Northern Michigan finance and fiduciary processes.

Food Distribution and Logistics:

Support regional food distribution systems.
Participate in Purchasing Committee.
Assist with strategic alignment of food distribution activities.

Fundraising and Donor Relations:

Support Coalition fundraising efforts and campaigns.
Support donor stewardship in conjunction with NFC Treasurer.
Participate in sustainability planning discussions and efforts.

Event Management:

Support signature Coalition events including Empty Bowls, Thanksgiving initiatives, and select food drives.
Assist with event logistics, communication, volunteer coordination, and inventory oversight.

Community Partnerships:

Collaborate with community organizations and regional partners.
Attend and participate in relevant meetings and collaborative efforts.
Serve as a community resource and represent NFC in community partnerships and regional initiatives.

Marketing and Public Relations:

Coordinate with appropriate internal and external partners on Northwest Food Coalition website, social media, outreach, and Empty Bowls communications.
Serve as the point person for outreach, media inquiries, and public communications.
Work with external marketing and communication partners as needed.

Reports to:

Goodwill Northern Michigan Food Rescue Director for employment and administrative supervision, with operational direction provided by the Northwest Food Coalition Operating Committee. The Northwest Food Coalition Operating Committee will provide input into the Coordinator's goals and performance evaluation.

Requirements Education, Licenses, Certifications and

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in non-profit management, food assistance programming, public administration, community development, human services, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong facilitation, communication, meeting coordination, and organizational skills, with the ability to guide groups from planning to action through clear follow-up and accountability.
