Position: Director of Nursing (DON) - Long-Term Care | Day Shift | St. Ignace, MI
Location: Saint Ignace

Director of Nursing (DON) – St. Ignace, Michigan

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing services, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote exceptional resident-centered care. This role works closely with staff, residents, and families and plays a key leadership role in facility operations.

Compensation &

Schedule:

  • Starting Salary: $90,000 (dependent on experience).
  • Start: 2/9/2026.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5 days/week.
  • Hours: 8-hour shifts.
  • Weekend Requirements: TBD.
  • On-Call: None.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.
  • Direct resident assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and address quality-of-care concerns.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse leaders.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and mentor nursing staff.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work culture.
  • Address performance issues and conduct disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare for and lead surveys, inspections, and audits.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures.
  • Lead Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
  • Promote infection control, safety, and risk management programs.
  • Ensure ongoing staff education, training, and competency validation.
  • Stay current with best practices in long-term care nursing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License (verified via Nursys).
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (highly preferred).
  • BLS Certification (required).
  • ACLS Certification
    .
  • Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing
    .
  • Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience
    .
  • Strong servant leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Matrix EMR
    .
  • Infection Preventionist Certification.
  • Willingness to obtain certification within 6 months (CMS program provided at no cost).
