• Manage patient care in the operating room throughout length of stay, achieving quality outcomes and timely discharge.
• Apply the nursing process (assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation, evaluation).
• Coordinate care provided by other professionals; delegate tasks within scope.
• Document and communicate patient response to care during each duty.
• Assess acuity and complexity; provide physical care within scope.
• Maintain competency specific to the population served.
• Support clinical documentation and quality improvement initiatives.
• Lead or participate in unit committees and professional councils.
• Assist in educating patients and families.
• Participate in research and evidence‑based practice improvements.
• Adhere to Michigan Public Health Code and organizational policies.

• Review procedure cards; assess case cart for supplies prior to surgery.
• Identify missing equipment and arrange for acquisition.
• Anticipate physician needs and adjust supplies accordingly.
• Monitor patient condition for changes during procedure.
• Update case information as needed.
• Recommend correct equipment handling to staff and physicians.
• Act as resource for circulators unfamiliar with equipment.
• Participate in after‑hour on‑call rotation.
• Perform scrub duties in multiple services (e.g., neuro, ortho, STII).

• Associate’s degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor’s preferred.
• Must obtain BSN within eight years of hire for new hires without a BSN (or higher) at time of hire.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan.
• BLS certification required by completion of core orientation.
• Advanced Life Support or ALS may be required for certain units.
• SALT triage, ESI Triage, and NIH Stroke Scale certification within 90 days of hire for Emergency Department.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within six months of hire for full‑time/part‑time nurses.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within six months for Special Care Unit nurses.
• Electronic fetal monitoring certification within six months for Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby/Antepartum units.
• Current driver’s license in Michigan and proof of insurance required for BAH.
• Must read, interpret and analyze data from computer systems to plan care.
• Ability to communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically.
• Capacity to handle moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and perform tasks requiring alertness.

• Full‑time scheduled: 40 hours per week.
