Position: Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) - Full Time - OB/GYN - Battle Creek, MI

Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) – Full Time – OB/GYN – Battle Creek, MI

Oversee and deliver essential nursing care and support for the OB/GYN practice under provider direction.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general nursing staff functions for the practice.
  • Record vital signs, provide initial patient assessment, obtain concise patient history, and supply clinical information and support to providers.
  • Process and post information to patient charts and educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment, care, and referrals.
  • Assist in other areas as needed and conduct phone triage of patients.
  • Demonstrate competencies specific to the OB/GYN population when providing direct patient care.
  • Maintain excellent interpersonal, problem‑solving, prioritization, and confidentiality skills while communicating effectively with patients, doctors, and staff.
  • Work independently and as an integral team member with other healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize computer skills to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems.
  • Work in conditions that produce high levels of mental/visual fatigue and require sustained alertness (e.g., interactive, repetitive or small detailed work). Regularly lift or handle up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier tasks as needed.
  • Prepare patients for appointments, exams, and procedures; review documentation and ensure all materials are available.
  • Administer medication reconciliation and basic routine testing of hearing, vision, or other assessments.
  • Provide initial assessment findings to the physician as needed.
  • Perform triage calls, determine urgency, and decide on appointment necessity or phone advice adequacy.
  • Assist providers with minor and emergency procedures and examinations; provide reassurance during examinations.
  • Schedule tests and procedures in other departments as directed by providers.
  • Provide patients with instructions for exams and procedures, document results, and notify patients of outcomes.
  • Perform point‑of‑care laboratory tests as directed and document all required information accurately in the medical record.
  • Coordinate admissions, referrals, and prescription requests.
  • Deliver education to patients and families regarding their care plans.
  • Take verbal, telephone, and written orders for medications and administer treatments per physician orders, properly recording all data.
  • Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Collect and collate data for quality‑improvement monitoring, ensuring all delivered care meets appropriate standards.
  • Use quality‑improvement results to initiate changes in nursing practice and ensure proper communication with the healthcare team.
  • Attend staff and other meetings as required; participate in ongoing educational activities related to professional knowledge and issues.
  • Maintain professional records that evidence competency and ongoing educational activities.
  • Assist in completing miscellaneous forms (e.g., Workers’ Compensation, Disability, and State of Michigan) as required.
  • Contribute to colleagues’ professional development through knowledge sharing.
  • Stock supplies and maintain examination rooms.
  • Stay familiar with various insurance and referral policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
  • 6–12 months of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Licensed RN in good standing with the State of Michigan required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem‑solving, prioritization, and confidentiality skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from electronic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
