Job Title
House Manager (RN) – Hospital (Bronson South Haven, PRN)
LocationBronson South Haven – South Haven, MI.
Responsibilities- Support operations and patient care services of the organization.
- Utilize effective leadership skills to support staff, solve problems, and make appropriate decisions.
- Provide immediate administrative and clinical leadership to unit staff and ancillary departments, coordinating hospital‑wide activities as necessary.
- Work independently and collaboratively with other staff.
- Coordinate and oversee hospital operations, including daily placement of admissions and transfers.
- Resolve crises and conflicts, providing analysis, assessment, and intervention for problems requiring immediate attention.
- Investigate and address problems and complaints from patients, visitors, physicians and staff, implementing appropriate actions.
- Act as initial contact for atypical events, conducting initial assessments and stabilizing patients.
- Continuously assess hospital environment for safety concerns and take appropriate action.
- Lead and attend Safety Check‑In meetings Monday–Friday and on weekends/holidays; coordinate Bed Planning meetings (0400/1600).
- Monitor hospital capacity, manage throughput to avoid delays, and communicate occupancy status to staff and physicians.
- Coordinate communication with outside organizations, including health care facilities, law enforcement agencies, and media.
- Manage initial response to disasters, crises or emergencies, notifying the incident commander and coordinating activities.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including Substance Abuse Policy.
- Provide triage and direct employees with after‑hours calls to the Employee Incident Hotline.
- Identify bed bugs, coordinate with EVS, Facilities, and pest control for proper containment.
- Conduct rounds on all hospital departments, monitor unit activity, assist with problem resolution, and act as mentor to staff.
- Oversee availability of patient care supplies and equipment, directing during shortages and downtime of computer/monitoring systems.
- For Bronson Lakeview Hospital and Bronson South Haven Hospital, complete the annual Word day CBL “Swing beds” review, documenting differences between swing bed patients and in‑patient or observation patients.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required upon hire for South Haven; previously hired employees must have an active nursing license and 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the state of Michigan.
- Bronson South Haven Hospital: BCLS required upon hire;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire. - Required completion of Hospital Incident Command courses (IS‑100. HCb, IS‑200HCb, IS‑200.HCa, IS‑700.a) and NIH Stroke certification within 6 months of hire.
- For Bronson Battle Creek:
Knowledge of disaster planning and certification in IS courses highly preferred; capability to mix and dose TPA as part of the stroke team. - Proficiency with basic computer programs for record keeping and data analysis.
- Strong communication skills; ability to interact with visitors, physicians, hospital personnel, and administrative staff with tact and sensitivity.
- Capacity to work while standing, walking, lifting light and heavier patients, and performing physically demanding tasks.
