Bronson Battle Creek Hospital Unit Coordinator (RN Supervisor)
Location:
Bronson Battle Creek
Under general supervision, the unit coordinator serves as the leader and clinical liaison, ensuring continuity of leadership, providing mentorship and staffing support while maintaining unit standards.
Responsibilities- Serve as clinical liaison and mentor, coach, and resource person to staff for unit standards and team environment.
- Assist the unit manager/director with recruiting, hiring, orientation, performance evaluation, counseling, staffing, payroll, and budgeting.
- Maintain a safe environment of care, fostering positive customer service and meeting quality standards.
- Coordinate unit operations, including patient placements, staff assignments, and staffing schedules.
- Manage staffing and scheduling, approve/deny PTO, adjust staffing day‑to‑day, and participate in staffing planning.
- Act as first responder for clinical and service recovery issues; provide guidance and supervision to personnel.
- Facilitate quality audits, accreditation processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in shared governance, charge nurse meetings, and nurse manager meetings.
- Develop personal development plans for staff and provide performance coaching.
- Manage recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel and assist in developing retention strategies.
- Encourage innovation and creativity within the unit.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and 2 years of clinical experience (Master’s preferred).
- Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan.
- Advanced Nursing Certification preferred (e.g., PALS, BLS, ACLS).
- Previous management experience and formal or informal leadership experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain accountability.
- Proficiency with relevant software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Fluent speaking and writing in English.
Variable night shift; full‑time, scheduled 40 hours per week.
