Job Summary

The Occupational Registered Nurse provides nursing assessments, treatments, and recommendations for employees related to illness or injury within the RN scope of practice. This role ensures compliance with occupational health regulations, supports disability and absence management processes, and promotes employee health and safety initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care by taking vital signs, assessing injuries/illnesses, documenting findings, and formulating treatment plans.
  • Perform medical interventions within RN scope of practice.
  • Document and maintain employee treatment records in compliance with OSHA or similar governing regulations, ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
  • Support the site’s medical Emergency Response Program.
  • Guide employees through the disability process, coordinating with insurance carriers, benefits, workers’ compensation, safety teams, and company physicians/providers.
  • Manage absence cases using the PIIM (Post Injury and Illness Management) program to enable early, safe return to work with accommodations.
  • Track and manage FMLA requests in accordance with medical and legal protocols.
  • Conduct regulatory surveillance exams as required by OSHA or similar standards.
  • Participate in company health and safety programs, including wellness initiatives (e.g., smoking cessation, fitness programs, flu shots, blood drives).
  • Contribute to pandemic preparedness planning.
  • Interact with external occupational medical providers as needed.
  • Manage medical inventory and supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Active and current RN license in applicable state.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of RN experience; occupational health experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
