Registered Nurse ( RN ) - Emergency Department ( ED ) - Bronson Lakeview Hospital - Part-time

Job Title and Location

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED), Bronson Lakeview Hospital, Part‑time (64 hrs/pp), 8-mid (evening/overnight and weekend) shifts.

Under general supervision, this role manages the care delivery for patients in the Emergency Department, utilizing the full nursing process (assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, evaluation) and coordinating care with other professionals. The RN leads patient care activities, ensuring timely discharge and quality outcomes.

• Conduct patient assessment, documentation and care planning following the nursing process.
• Coordinate and delegate care tasks within scope of professional nursing practice and to assist staff.
• Provide physical care and interventions appropriate to patient acuity and complexity.
• Document and communicate patient response, resource use, and anticipated needs during each tour of duty.
• Lead quality improvement activities and utilize data for practice change.
• Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Maintain compassionate, culturally sensitive care and ethical practices.
• Assist with surgical procedures as a Scrub RN when required (interpreting procedure cards, preparing case carts, monitoring operative conditions).
• Manage swing‑bed patient care and documentation differences, if assigned.

• Associate’s degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor’s degree preferred (must obtain within 8 years of hire).
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing, State of Michigan.
• Clinical experience in an Emergency Department, Trauma, or similar acute care setting.
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written, electronic).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle heavy equipment as necessary.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and meeting licensure requirements.

• BLS certification upon completion of core orientation.
• Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) required.
• Other certifications: pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and trauma nursing core course (TNCC) within 6 months (for full‑time and part‑time RN).
• SALT triage, ESI triage, and NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days for ED RN.
• Special Care Unit RN required: PALS within 6 months.

• All nurses must obtain a BSN or higher within 8 years of hire; failure to meet this requirement results in termination.
• Must comply with Michigan Public Health Code and Bronson policies.

Part‑time, 64 hours per pay period (8‑hour mid shifts: evenings, overnight, and weekends as scheduled). Availability for call as part of a rotational schedule where specified.
