Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED) – Bronson South Haven – Full‑time 12N (7p‑7a)
Responsibilities- Manage patient care throughout the length of stay using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members and delegate tasks to patient care assistants and universal service assistants as appropriate.
- Provide physical and therapeutic interventions consistent with the patient’s acuity and complexity of care.
- Document and communicate patient response to care, resource utilization, and anticipated needs during each tour of duty.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, review vital signs, and identify patient problems or issues.
- Develop individualized care plans and interventions, incorporating clinical pathways, evidence‑based practices, and patient/family input.
- Implement care plans, administer medications, and initiate patient education, monitoring effectiveness and safety.
- Evaluate progress toward expected outcomes, document findings, and adjust care plans as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and apply findings to enhance nursing practice.
- Serve as a patient advocate, preserving autonomy, confidentiality, and rights.
- Attend at least 50% of unit staff meetings and contribute to a professional work environment.
- Assume on‑call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
- Perform Scrub RN duties: interpret procedure cards, ensure supplies, anticipate physician needs, update case information, and support operating team.
- Support surgeries in neuro, orthopedics, and HDU services, including performing spinal fusions.
- Complete the Workday CBL for Swing Bed patients, ensuring documentation differences and care requirements are met.
- Cover shifts at Bronson Lakeview Hospital or Bronson South Haven Hospital as staffing needs require.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred and must be obtained within 8 years of hire. - Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing, State of Michigan.
- BLS certification required upon completion of core orientation.
- Unit‑specific certifications within required time frames:
- SALT triage, ESI Triage, and NIH Stroke Scale – complete within 90 days.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course – complete within 6 months.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support – complete within 6 months for Special Care Unit.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification – complete within 6 months for Labor & Delivery.
- Current Michigan driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50lb, push, pull, and handle equipment for sustained periods.
- Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and competency maintenance.
Shift: 12‑hour night shift (7p.m. – 7a.m.) – full time, scheduled weekly hours 36.
