Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care within the Medical Surgical unit, ensuring safety and quality in accordance with hospital policies. They assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes to promote patient recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions and gather comprehensive biophysical, psychosocial, and environmental data.
• Develop, plan, and prescribe nursing interventions based on patient assessment and clinical guidelines.
• Implement care plans effectively, ensuring timely medication administration and patient education.
• Evaluate patient responses to care and adjust interventions accordingly to optimize health outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, progress, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid Michigan nursing license with verification through LARA and Nursys.
• Require at least 2 years of Medical Surgical experience.
• ICU experience preferred, with a skills checklist completed within one year.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across lifespan.
• Hold current BLS (AHA) certification.
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret patient data.
