Position Summary:
Manages the surgical board. Responsible for ensuring the schedule is developed to support our customers, balancing the schedule with regard to required resources, communication between all the various disciplines, directing staff in order to keep schedule on time and implementing service recovery when necessary. Oversee the nursing plan of care for patients within the assigned unit. Ensures the nursing plan of care meets the physiological and emotional needs of the patients served.
Directs patient care through performance and/or leadership of patient care team members and patient care management staff. Assists in the coordination of patient care through the appropriate utilization of all resources; staff, equipment, supplies, etc. As an expert to manage the assigned specialty, is a resource to both the staff and physicians. Assumes accountability for coordination and facilitation of patient flow and processes in collaboration with Patient Care Team Members.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Associate’s degree in nursing or equivalent
- Five years of prior work experience in OR/PACU
- Current State of Michigan RN license
- BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Three years of leadership and/or charge nurse experience
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification
