The Critical Care Unit (CCU) is a 20‑bed, multidisciplinary unit serving patients with life‑threatening conditions such as cardiogenic shock, heart failure, liver/renal failure, respiratory failure, neurological conditions, and sepsis. The unit also includes a Progressive Care Unit that acts as a bridge between ICU and the medical/surgical floor. Registered nurses (RNs) provide comprehensive, high‑quality, continuous care for these patients.

• Manage the delivery of nursing care, ensuring quality outcomes and timely discharge.
• Apply the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate care with other health professionals, delegate appropriate tasks, and provide physical care within scope of practice.
• Document and communicate patient status, resource use, and anticipated needs during each shift.
• Read and analyze data from computer systems and equipment to inform care plans.
• Maintain continuous verbal, written, and electronic communication with patients, families, and team members.
• Perform physical assessments, review vital signs, and detect deviations from normal.
• Identify patient problems and develop individualized plans of care with expected outcomes.
• Implement nursing interventions, administer medications, and utilize evidence‑based practices.
• Document patient responses and evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and adapt practice based on outcomes.
• Engage in ongoing education, maintain competency records, and comply with professional standards.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and advocate for patients.
• Assist patients and families in understanding treatment options, costs, and risks.
• Provide leadership in professional practice settings and attend unit staff meetings.

• Associate's degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor's degree preferred (must be obtained within 8 years of hire).
• Good standing Licensed Registered Nurse for the state of Michigan.
• BLS certification required; critical‑care or ALS certifications may be required.
• Demonstrated competencies specific to high‑acuity patient populations.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier tasks as needed.
