Job PurposeEntry-level position providing key support to the Quality department, including water testing, raw milk testing, load-out testing, finished product testing, microbiological testing, chemical titrations, and work-in-process testing. Responsibilities include generating daily reports, data entry, project assistance, filing, special studies, calibrations, and interdepartmental communication.
Responsibilities- Operate laboratory testing instrumentation safely, efficiently, and sanitarily, covering moisture/solids, protein, fat, pH, and other assays.
- Utilize Foss analytical equipment, pH meters, and other laboratory instrumentation as required.
- Conduct daily quality line sampling, evaluation, and testing on the plant floor.
- Prepare all solutions and media needed for laboratory testing.
- Perform sensory evaluations of all finished products.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and results in the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
- Notify the Quality Assurance Manager and relevant operations supervisors of any anomalous results or product defects and perform necessary re-checks.
- Conduct raw milk testing and screening per fairlife and Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) standards to ensure product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Verify that incoming raw milk comes from approved producers.
- Keep all results and reports confidential in accordance with the Company Letter of Confidentiality.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and keep supplies stocked.
- Communicate results to the appropriate individuals promptly and professionally.
- Report any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions regarding plant equipment or lab instrumentation to the supervisor or manager immediately.
- Follow all safety, work, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and GLP rules.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
- College degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of one year of laboratory experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proficiency in English for written and verbal communication.
Physical Requirements
40‑45 hour workweek involving sitting, standing, walking, and lifting; ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance available.
Food Safety Responsibilities- Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that might affect product quality or food safety.
- Observe and comply with the color‑coded container policy while in production areas.
- Perform duties to meet company, customer, and government requirements and standards.
- Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities related to food safety and product quality.
- Identify and record any food safety or quality problems in ingredients, processes, quality systems, or safety systems.
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until issues are corrected.
- Assume duties and responsibilities of an equivalent employee in case of absence.
