Creative Dining Services is looking for a Part-Time Cook to join our team at Kirtland Community College in Grayling, Michigan!

As a Cook, you'll play an important role in creating a positive dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests. You'll work alongside a supportive culinary team to prepare fresh, flavorful food while maintaining the highest standards for quality, safety, and sanitation.

• Prepare delicious, high-quality food according to established recipes and menus.

• Time food production so meals are fresh and ready when service begins.

• Use batch cooking techniques to maintain freshness and minimize food waste.

• Properly season, prepare, portion, and present food to established standards.

• Follow safe food handling practices at all times.

• Maintain proper food temperatures and follow food safety procedures.

• Label, date, store, and rotate food according to established standards.

• Complete required production and temperature logs.

• Keep the kitchen, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and sanitary.

• Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment when needed.

• Monitor kitchen equipment and report any issues promptly.

• Assist with opening and/or closing the kitchen when required.

• Help with inventory, ordering, stocking, and pulling supplies.

• Remove refuse and help keep the kitchen and storage areas organized.

• Communicate food production needs, concerns, and equipment issues to management.

• Support your fellow team members and jump in wherever needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

• Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-focused work environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work and understands that great food starts with great teamwork!

We're looking for someone who has:

• At least 2 years of cooking experience preferred.

• A passion for preparing and serving quality food.

• The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Dependability and a positive attitude.

• Attention to detail and a commitment to food safety.

• The ability to follow recipes, menus, and established procedures.

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.

• Serv Safe Certification preferred/required as applicable.
