** Job Overview*
* We are seeking an experienced Supervisor for our Bioanalytical Chemistry Team at our Safety Assessment site located in Mattawan, MI.
A Supervisor is responsible for: management of staff, as well as work processes and/or data within a specific department. An individual in this position ensures that business objectives are met in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements, company and departmental policies, and regulatory standards. The Supervisor is also the liaison between staff and the next level of management, communicating expectations, business needs, and opportunities for improvement.
A Supervisor is expected to work, at times, in the area where staff are working, which may involve exposure to animals, chemicals, and/or biohazards.
The pay for this position is $72,000 annually USD. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
** Job Description*
* Performs technical laboratory activities in support of client studies or procedures. Performs analysis of data for quality and completeness and determines if results are as expected. Records data in compliance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements. Executes scientific testing strategies and studies. May participate in development as part of team. May lead assay research, assay validation or study conduct, or is involved in preparation of material (e.g. protein, nucleic acid, cells, etc.).
Reviews and interprets study data, communicates results to clients and writes final reports. Ensures compliance with protocols and all applicable SOPs. Troubleshoots and resolves assay or technical issues in the laboratory when scientific expertise is needed. Contributes to specific dataset interpretation, or when appropriate answering questions from regulatory authorities. For singular focus of Chemistry or Biology disciplines, refer to specified role on job architecture.
+ Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws to include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and completing annual performance review on or before due date; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
+ Oversee and is responsible for the performance of staff, including their work schedule and accomplishments; resolves issues and concerns of the staff.
+ Serve as a liaison between staff, other departments, and management to communicate expectations and business needs and determine how the group will get the work accomplished.
+ Established, monitor, and review departmental records and data to verify completeness and accuracy, this may include databases and tracking logs.
+ Identify and implement opportunities for staff skills and career development, as well as for process and procedure modifications.
+ Schedule and conduct communication meetings; work with staff and management to provide direction and obtain feedback; identify and communicate to management opportunities for process improvements; solve problems and implement solutions.
+ Complete and quality investigations and observations, as necessary.
+ Provide supplies and resources required for staff to complete their assigned duties/work.
+ Other duties as assigned.
** Minimum Requirements*
* + HS / GED and at least 2 years relevant experience; or, Bachelor's of Science degree and at least 1 year relevant experience.
+ Previous laboratory expereince or internal Laboratory Sciences expereince preferred.
+ Previous leadership experience preferred.
+ Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
+ Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
+ Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts; sometimes on short notice.
+ Ability to work under specific time constraints.
+ Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa, now or in the future.
