Uniformed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, students and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires and natural disasters, as well as providing outstanding customer service to our customers, clients, and visitors.
SCHEDULE: Part Time 0–29 hours/week 2nd Shift (Varies) Mon–Fri (Depending on Client Need)
COMPENSATION: $18.50 per hour.
LOCATION: South Haven, MI
Job Duties- Guard posts at the entry/exit points of the client buildings and grounds.
- Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
- Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
- Look for suspicious people, packages and activities.
- Follow site specific post guidelines.
- Document daily activities and report all incidents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) per MCL 338.1067.
- Must be at least 21 years old and be a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work.
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060.
- Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060.
- Must pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
- Must adhere to the company’s uniform and appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de‑escalate situations in a non‑confrontational manner. Also able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Must be willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and be capable of administering care in emergency situations.
- Must move quickly, run short distances, respond in emergencies.
- Must sit, stand, and walk long distances, including stairs, for the duration of the shift (8–12 hours).
- Must work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
- Must hear conversations in noisy environments.
- Must lift up to 50 pounds (70 pounds if armed).
- Must work independently with little or no supervision.
Part‑time Benefit Package (Not available to part‑time on‑call or temporary employees.)
Eligible after at least 1 year of employment while maintaining an average of 20+ hours per week. Benefits are offered once every November to those eligible. Employees can become ineligible if their availability changes and they are unable to be scheduled for the required hours.
