Public Safety Officer

The Center Line Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy for the position of Public Safety Officer. The Public Safety Officer (PSO) position requires applicants to be cross trained in Police, Firefighting, and Medical First Responder.

• High school or GED diploma
• Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at the time of employment
• Must have passed the MCOLES physical, reading, and writing test
• Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and a good driving history
• Ability to successfully pass a background investigation, psychological evaluation, interview process, and drug/alcohol screen
• Ability to work 12‑hour shifts

• Defined Benefits Pension System with a 2.75 multiplier
• 12‑hour shifts with a shift differential for second shifts
• 13 paid holidays (option to convert holiday pay to vacation time or a combination of both)
• 96 hours of vacation time and 72 hours of sick time
• All uniforms and equipment provided; $1,000 yearly uniform allowance after the first year
