Position Overview:
Campus Safety Cadets play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for the entire UO community and its guests. They are responsible for event security, shift coverage, building and parking lot patrols, Safety desk coverage, and responding to various campus safety needs. This position requires a flexible schedule that varies based on demand, including coverage for football games, Greek parties, and other events as requested by the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrate a strong work ethic and dedication to performing duties to the best of one's abilities.
- Punctuality and Preparedness: Arrive on time and fully prepared for scheduled shifts, adhering to uniform and equipment requirements.
- Adherence to Safety Policies: Train on and thoroughly understand Campus Safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Exemplary Conduct: Maintain a high standard of personal conduct that exceeds both University and Campus Safety policies, reflecting positively on the University community.
- Positive Engagement: Interact courteously and professionally with all members of the UO community and guests, providing assistance and information as needed.
- Flexible Availability: Be available and willing to work varying shifts as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the department's operational needs.
- Ability to work with and follow directions given by officer/supervisor with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- Must be a current student of UO with good academic standing, 2.75 GPA.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and responsibly.
- Physical capability to patrol buildings and parking lots on foot.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Must be in good judicial standing with the University.
