Job Description

Flory Line Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Utility Unit Checker to support our utility operations by verifying completed work in the field. This role is responsible for inspecting and documenting utility construction activities to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and client requirements.

The Utility Unit Checker plays a critical role in billing accuracy, project closeout, and maintaining strong relationships with utility clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field inspections of completed utility work including pole replacements, wire installations, transfers, equipment installations, and storm restoration work.
  • Verify work quantities, unit counts, and scope completion against work orders and project plans.
  • Accurately document findings using company forms, tablets, or reporting software.
  • Take clear field photos to support documentation and invoicing.
  • Identify discrepancies between work performed and work billed.
  • Communicate findings with Project Managers, Superintendents, and office staff.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and client specifications.
  • Follow all safety rules and jobsite protocols.
  • Travel to multiple job sites daily as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Utility, construction, or inspection experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of overhead and/or underground utility construction is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, maps, and construction plans.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic computer skills (tablet, email, data entry).
  • Valid driver's license.
