Overview
Utility Locate Technician. Utility Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including electric power lines, gas lines, and fiber optic lines (minimal). This position ensures compliance with client and state requirements. Duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. Requires using multiple methods. Technicians are dispatched to locate and verify utilities for customers. They can work independently or in a team under an assigned supervisor.

- Locate underground facilities by using appropriate methods (transmitter, maps, blueprints, etc.).
- Observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations.
- Interpret job orders, tickets, blueprints and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
- Communicate effectively with customers, co-employees and third parties; maintain professional conduct.
- Support a damage-free environment through coordination with management, contractors and utility customers.
- Utilize technology and tools as required.
- Work in a supervised team or independently as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- State-issued driver’s license.
- Ability to problem-solve; read, interpret and decipher prints.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs; ability to walk/stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Background screening pass (no violations within the last 5 years).
- DOT drug test pass required.

- Schedule:
10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, on call; weekends as needed.
Job Location:
On the road. All employees are provided with necessary technology and work vehicles to perform duties. Company will provide tools needed to achieve job responsibilities, including a company vehicle, laptop and smartphone, and PPE as required.
