Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic - Full Time - Days - Downriver

OverviewAs a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with strong technical expertise and a passion for automotive mechanics.
Responsibilities- Perform thorough inspections and diagnostic tests on heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
- Repair and maintain various components and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension and electrical systems.
- Replace or repair defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools and specialized equipment.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid checks to keep equipment operating smoothly.
- Inspect and service hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems to prevent breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues, identify root causes and develop effective repair solutions.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals and schematics to assist in troubleshooting and problem‑solving.
- Adhere to safety protocols, procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Follow manufacturer specifications and industry standards to perform repairs and maintenance tasks accurately and safely.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work performed, parts used and hours worked.
- Collaborate with other team members—including mechanics, supervisors and parts personnel—to coordinate work assignments and prioritize tasks.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers and other stakeholders regarding repair status, findings and recommendations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical training in heavy‑duty mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy‑duty mechanic preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment.
- Familiarity with a wide range of tools, equipment and diagnostic devices used in the automotive/heavy‑duty repair industry.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Competitive pay (25‑45 USD per hour)
