What You'll Do

As a Cable Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining telecommunications infrastructure to ensure reliable service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic and coaxial cable systems
  • Perform fiber optic and coaxial cable splicing in aerial and underground environments
  • Support new installations, upgrades, relocations, and repair projects
  • Identify and replace damaged, defective, or outdated cable infrastructure
  • Diagnose network connectivity and service issues
  • Test and verify system performance to ensure quality standards are met
  • Monitor and document signal levels for internet, television, and telephone services
  • Perform live splicing and maintenance activities with minimal service interruption
  • Complete aerial and underground cable work, including span replacements and network expansions
  • Read and interpret network documentation, system maps, and design drawings
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and network updates
  • Assess worksites to identify safety concerns and installation risks
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding services and equipment setup
  • Follow all company and safety procedures while maintaining high-quality workmanship
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in telecommunications, cable installation, fiber optics, low-voltage systems, or related technical work preferred
  • Basic understanding of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems
  • Familiarity with hand tools, testing equipment, and installation practices
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license may be required
