What You'll Do
As a Cable Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining telecommunications infrastructure to ensure reliable service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic and coaxial cable systems
- Perform fiber optic and coaxial cable splicing in aerial and underground environments
- Support new installations, upgrades, relocations, and repair projects
- Identify and replace damaged, defective, or outdated cable infrastructure
- Diagnose network connectivity and service issues
- Test and verify system performance to ensure quality standards are met
- Monitor and document signal levels for internet, television, and telephone services
- Perform live splicing and maintenance activities with minimal service interruption
- Complete aerial and underground cable work, including span replacements and network expansions
- Read and interpret network documentation, system maps, and design drawings
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and network updates
- Assess worksites to identify safety concerns and installation risks
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding services and equipment setup
- Follow all company and safety procedures while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in telecommunications, cable installation, fiber optics, low-voltage systems, or related technical work preferred
- Basic understanding of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems
- Familiarity with hand tools, testing equipment, and installation practices
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license may be required
